Study says U.S. textbooks incorrectly portray sex and gender

www.americanthinker.com

This just in: men and women are not different. (O.K., “experts” have been trying to get us to believe that for some time now, but it still seemed fun to write.)

While a recent study did not explicitly say that, the study, which was published in the journal “Science” claims that many textbooks used in U.S. classrooms don’t properly distinguish between sex and gender, which are, apparently, considered two very different things by modern science.

The textbooks were taken to task because they didn’t allow for the unimaginably vast number of genders now considered to be extant — and on a continuum. (A very long continuum indeed!) The study avers that the archaic belief in fewer than an unlimited number of genders contradicts scientific understanding ... thus proving that science isn’t what it used to be. And probably never was.

The scientists/experts say that, just because a person has male genitalia, we must not assume that that person is male, and if a person has female body parts/genitalia, e.g., a vagina, we shouldn’t arbitrarily assume that person is female.

Assumptions?! If we can’t assume that females are girls and males are boys … we are in real trouble as a society and a species. If men and women aren’t different — and the concepts of sex and gender are not even knowable, we may as well start closing up shop now.

Why stop at expunging musty old notions of sex and gender from our nation’s textbooks? Let’s look at what other “misguided assumptions” they may be promoting. The Earth is round? The Holocaust was bad? Lincoln was assassinated?

What the hell?! If we can’t assume water is wet or fire hot…we as a species will eventually go the way of the passenger pigeon…which were, by-the-way, hunted to extinction. They did not lose their ability to differentiate males from females nor decide that gender is a vast spectrum largely determined by one’s environment. CONTINUE

The Power of God's Word

16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek. 17 For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “The just shall live by faith.”

18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, 19 because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them. 20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, 21 because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened.

Surviving and Thriving in the Coming Crisis With Modest Means

internationalman.com

There’s no question the years ahead will be turbulent.

Wealthier people have a leg up and will be better able to insulate themselves from the coming chaos.

For those without significant wealth, how would you recommend they allocate their limited resources in the coming chaos for both protection and profit?

Doug Casey: First, let me draw your attention to one of my favorite quotes from Ayn Rand. When asked what should be done about the poor, she answered: “Don’t be one of them.”

That’s quite correct. But a better question might be: How do you leave the ranks of the struggling and become rich?

As I’ve said many times on this blog, it’s by producing more than you consume and saving the difference.

That means doing whatever you can to increase your income while simultaneously cutting your expenses. It may mean taking a second job and abstaining from lattes at Starbucks. It means cutting out smoking if you smoke and cocktails if you drink. It means not following fashion. It means not keeping up with Joneses, and driving a functional used car, bought for cash, not glitzy new one that financed or leased.

You don’t have to become a Benedictine monk, but it’s important to cut back your standard of living now while you’re still in control of the situation. Don’t wait for necessity to do it for you. You might get a used copy of my book, Strategic Investing, which has several chapters on exactly this type of thing.

There’s no way around it. If you want to be a capitalist, you have to build capital. You do that by producing more effectively and consuming less. It’s not easy, but it’s necessary. The Chinese became wealthy by saving 50% of their incomes in recent years. You should put aside at least 10% of everything that comes in the door—come hell or high water.

International Man: What advice do you have for the average person with significant debt?

Doug Casey: Going back to what we were just talking about, the best alternative is to pay it off. But that may not be entirely feasible for some people who are truly buried. You may have to consider bankruptcy. CONTINUE

Eventual Financial Death Spiral Now Imminent – John Rubino

 usawatchdog.com

By Greg Hunter

Analyst and financial writer John Rubino warned nearly four months ago of a “U.S. Financial Death Spiral.”  This past week, Bank of America caught up to Rubino and issued a warning about a “US dollar death spiral” because the federal government was going deeper in the red by creating “$1 trillion in new debt every 100 days.”

Maybe this is why gold and Bitcoin have been hitting new all-time highs day after day.  Rubino says, “When a building was worth $200 million and someone sells it for $48 million, that means there is a loss that someone has to take.  Those losses are mostly on the books of regional and local banks.

So, they are in big trouble financially. . . . You will get these massive bank runs that the government will have to step in and bail out.  This is one of many things that will happen in the not-so-distant future.  This will impact government finances in a scary way that will send people’s attention to the currency.  In other words, if we have another $3 trillion bailout on top of everything else that’s going on . . .what is that going to do to the dollar?

Currencies are being inflated away with all these bailouts, deficits, wars and all these things that are going on that are bad for the currency.  So, people start selling government bonds, which push up interest rates and blows up even more bad real estate and paper . . . until you get a debt spiral, a real live financial death spiral than cannot be fixed.

I was talking to a real estate guy the other day, and he said this is not just inevitable, it is imminent.  It is happening now.  It is happening quickly, and it is going to hit the headlines. In this case, what is inevitable in commercial real estate is also looking imminent.” CONTINUE
